DEADLY FALL Prince Harry is devastated with grief. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing.

The Tragic Death of the 8th Marquess of Ailesbury

A tragic accident has claimed the life of Michael Brudenell-Bruce, the 98-year-old 8th Marquess of Ailesbury, in a fall from his West London home. The Marquess, a relative of model Florence Brudenell-Bruce, former girlfriend of Prince Harry, died after falling from a bedroom window while attempting to free his cat, according to his long-term partner.

Teresa Marshall de Paoli, 88, the Marquess’ girlfriend of over 30 years, discovered him lying in a pool of blood after the accident. She believes the incident occurred when he tried to lift the window to help their cat, Honeybun, who had become stuck. The elderly aristocrat is thought to have lost his balance and fallen, fatally striking his head on the patio below.

“It was a freak accident,” Teresa shared. “He had blood all over himself. I asked him, ‘Oh, my dear, what happened?’ but he had already passed away.”

Emergency services responded quickly to the scene at the property in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, but paramedics pronounced the Marquess dead on arrival. According to Teresa, the police initially treated the scene as a potential crime investigation, but no foul play was suspected.

The tragic incident occurred late on Sunday, May 12, prompting Teresa to call the Marquess’ daughter, Lady Kathryn Brudenell-Bruce, who rushed to the scene. The two women were forced to spend the night in the drawing room as police carried out their investigations.

“He had been there for an hour or more, and there was nothing we could do. The police stayed all night,” Teresa said. “I eventually said my goodbyes and covered him with his favorite aftershave.”

The Marquess, who had a distinguished military career as a captain in the Royal Horse Guards and later became a stockbroker, was well-known in British aristocratic circles. He had been married three times, and his granddaughter, Bo Bruce, gained public recognition through her appearance on the BBC singing competition *The Voice*.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that emergency services were called to the address after reports of an elderly man falling. “The death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious,” they said, adding that the Marquess’ family has been informed.

Before moving to Shepherd’s Bush, the couple had spent 16 years living in a cottage on the family’s 4,500-acre estate in Savernake Forest, Wiltshire. The Marquess’ passing marks the end of a life steeped in British heritage and public service, leaving his family, friends, and long-time partner in mourning.
