Pakistan’s 18-member squad ready for Paris Olympics

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Olympic Association has unveiled the 18-member squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics including seven athletes and 11 officials, encompassing coaching and medical staff.

At the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, Arshad Nadeem will hold the Pakistani flag while Pakistan’s athletes will be in action in athletics, shooting, and swimming.

Mohammad Shafiq Chief De Mission, Javed Lodhi Deputy Chief De Mission, and Zainab Shaukat will be the administrative official. Arshad Nadeem and Faiqa Riaz will represent Pakistan in athletics and their coach Salman Iqbal Butt will travel to Paris.

The shooting team, comprising Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, Kishmala Talat, and Gulfam Joseph, will be supported by coaches Gandy and Junaid Ali. Meanwhile, the swimming team includes Ahmed Durrani, Ahmad Ali Khan, and Jahan Ara, accompanied by team officials Haji Mohammad Shafiq and Javed Lodhi.

In the medical and welfare team, Meesaq Rizvi will travel as Chief Medical Officer: Meesaq Rizvi along with Welfare Officer Rizwan Ahmed.

Kashif Jamil has been appointed as the Olympic attaché at the Pakistani Embassy in France, facilitating smooth coordination for the Pakistani delegation’s journey to Paris.

The first phase of the delegation’s departure is scheduled for July 19 with the shooting team, followed by swimmers and officials on July 22, and the athletics team on July 24.
